With the complete order filled out on the Chrysler Website and printed copy in Hand. Our 5 Star Dealer only needed to place the order, take our deposit, and call us when the car arrived. Sounds simple .....Heres what happened during our 5 month wait.

Order placed April 25th 2000
After receiving our VON (Vehicle Order Number) a weekly call to Chrysler was made to check the status of our Order. I immediately joined 2 Internet Clubs, PTEnthusiasists and PTCruiserClub, and signed up for a daily digest of information overload. As I followed the dramas being played out around the country with dealer shennanigans, I gathered info and ideas and shared good company with strangers, connecting on a universal subject - "A Car".
Sept 2nd 2000
Vehicle was built and given a serial Number,Yahoo!!!
At this time we were informed that the name on the car had been changed by the Dealer and they could not give me any futher updates on this vehicle.
Now untrusting of this dealer - daily calls were placed to him to check upon the arrival of the car. We were given bogus information about being hungup in Customs, at the same time that I was tracking the movement of the PT on the railroad website until its arrival to the transport vehicle. Now knowing the car is within a 2 hour drive for delivery - a daily stalking of the dealers lot begins.
Monday Sept 25th
Still no call from dealer - cruise the lot at noon. Looking inside prep area sits a shinny new Silver PT Cruiser, we walk right in the back door check the serial number and there she sits....our new car. We head straight up front to the Sales Manager we have been doing the song and dance with. To make an even longer story short - There we were and we wanted our PT. A few quick errands, first stop the credit union, then back home to change clothes ....a Black Flapper Dress and Large Black Hat, a Pinstriped Suit for the Hubby, and lepord bag filled with silver lame dice, miniture PT, cruisin tunes, camera and of course all necessary paperwork. As we sat throught the paperwork and demo instrustions smiling - we pleasently passed on 3 seperate offers by differant salesmen to sell the car back.
By 6PM, 5 months to the day after placing our order - we were Cruisin!!!!!!!!!!!

Good things do come to those who wait!!!!
